Creekside Park is a thoughtfully designed recreational space located in Richmond, Texas. The park, which opened to the public in November of 2024, was highly anticipated by the surrounding community—stop by for a visit and you’ll see why. With an expansive activity area, basketball courts, soccer fields, activity lawn, and clubhouse, Creekside Park is an anchor within the surrounding Lakemont neighborhood. In collaboration with TBG Partners and B&D Contractors, Creekside Park pushed the boundaries of design while providing the perfect platform to translate imagination.
Many elements make Creekside Park the fantastic recreational spot it is, but the piece that stands out the most is the alligator structure, hands down. A favorite amongst park-goers, the larger-than-life structure started as a rough 3D model, a case study in initial design intent (by TBG Partners!), turned extraordinary feature. The 3D model we built included material sizes, foundation design, and finishes for the alligator. From there, the design moved into fabrication, morphing into a custom-engineered steel frame that was fabricated as the “bones” of the structure. Accoya wood was then cut and painted in a way that mimics the look of a real alligator.
Beyond the alligator structure, Creekside Park features additional elements. Log steppers, finished with a custom ombre stain, add vibrant color. Curved steel rings create another dimension to the space. Egret sculptures, inspired by an image provided to us by TBG Partners, were hand-formed from steel round bars using classic blacksmithing techniques.
With every project, challenges come along that require creative problem-solving. This project was no different. Wooden trusses for the clubhouse were originally pre-specified, but supply chain issues led to a need for adjustments on the fly. Through industry connections, we were able to source materials quickly and design, fabricate, and install a beautiful custom Douglas Fir wood truss system to keep the project on track.
Through our design-build and fabrication services, our team helped transform an ambitious vision into a vibrant space. Every element of Creekside Park highlights our ability to grasp imagination and make it a functional, imaginative space for the family to enjoy.
